My First Post!
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
If you’re reading this, it means that my first post is live!
My name is Armand Yilinkou and I am an aspiring game programmer and computer science student. I started this blog as a medium to share my projects, as well as to document topics which I am learning along the way. I hope that the blogs to come will be found useful not just for myself as revision, but also to new readers who happen to find this blog.
I have been learning game development on and off for around 2-3 years, starting out with Unity and C# until eventually transitioning to Unreal Engine 5. Initially overwhelmed by the sheer amount of features in Unreal, I took an online course over a couple weeks which taught me the basics of the engine and introduced me to Unreal’s blueprint system. After becoming familiar with the programming of basic game logic using blueprints, I delved into C++ by following another course, creating many prototype games along the way.
Since then, I have developed and released my first solo-developed project using Unreal Engine 5 and C++. This project is a first-person survival shooter game, with the aim of surviving as long as possible against an endless horde of enemies. For those interested, you can find more about this project here.
